Stress-Free to Korčula: Your Travel Guide to Korčula
During the summer months, especially in July and August, crowds can be heavy, and waiting at the port can be exhausting. Keep in mind that even if you have purchased tickets online in advance, this does not guarantee a spot on the ferry – you still need to be in line, as close to the ferry as possible.
The most common route to Korčula goes via the Pelješac Peninsula, where you board the Orebić – Korčula (Dominče) ferry. You can reach Orebić by ferry from Ploče to Trpanj, followed by a short drive to Orebić, or by traveling overland via Ston. Ferries on this route run every hour, and the journey takes only 15 minutes.
An alternative option is the Pelješac Bridge, opened in 2022, which allows access to Pelješac without crossing the border at Neum. This option is more convenient as it eliminates the need for border crossings, but crowds at the Orebić port, located in the town center, can be challenging during peak season.
Outside of peak season, such as in June or September, travel is more relaxed and there are fewer crowds. However, during the summer months, every extra hour of planning can save you time and stress. Whether you travel by ferry from Orebić or use the Pelješac Bridge, timely planning and arriving early ensure a calm and worry-free start to your holiday in Korčula.
